Hotel Scherer is centrally located - only 15 minutes walk from the historical city along the Salzach promenade.

The hotel is located in a site street and therefor quietly in a living district.

Food & beverage

In our fully airconditioned restaurant we serve traditional and international dishes. The restaurant is open from 06:00 until 22:00. The breakfast buffet is available between 06:00 and 10:00.
We also serve a "late riser" breakfast until 12:00.

We also serve lunch for single travellers on request.

Area information

Along the Salzach river you can start a nice walking tour through the centre. Within 20 minutes' walking distance you reach the Markart Steg (a small bridge for pedestrians only). You cross the Salzach river and enter the Getreidegasse, the main street of the medieval free city, which counts today as the most important shopping street in Mozart's city and is frequented by countless tourists.

At No. 9 Getreidegasse, on 27 January 1756, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the famous composer, was born. Follow the Getreidegasse to the left and you will reach Alter Markt, Waagplatz and Mozartplatz.

Alternatively, a walk in the "new town" will take you, within 10 minutes, to the famous Mirabellgarten. The garden displays to its visitors a colourful world of flowers and sculptures. Then you continue your walk to the Makartplatz (you pass the congress centre about 700 metres from the Hotel Scherer). This square is dominated by the Dreifaltigkeitskirche (Church of the Holy Trinity) and the Salzburger Landestheater (Salzburg Provincial Theatre). To the left you will see Mozart's residence. The Mozart family lived there from 1773 to 1787 after the little apartment on Getreidegasse became too small. Walking time from the hotel is about 15 to 20 minutes.

Activities:

- Hiking and jogging on the promenade of the river Salzach.
- Cycling: bike rental at the hotel. Follow the Tauernradweg (bike path) to the south.
- Fitness: within 20 minutes' walking distance, you can reach the fitness centre Vita Club.
- Golf: the next golf course is about 7 kilometres away at Kleßheim.
- Tennis: the next tennis court (indoor and outdoor) is about 8 kilometres away.
- Swimming: an indoor pool is approx. 600 metres away (sauna and mudpacks are available).

There are also many lakes in the surrounding area (20 minutes by car).

The city offers you a wide range of cultural activities throughout the year, including museums, exhibitions, galleries, concerts, readings and the Salzburg festivals (Easter, Pentecost, summer).

Travel information

The next available public transportation:

Bus: Bus No6. Busstop only 70m from the hotel. Driving every 10 min. into the historical citycenter. Exit at the station Rathaus.
Drivingtime: ca. 5 min.

Taxi: Please ask at the reception desk.

By foot: Along the Salzachpromenase. Nice walk with classsical Salzburg vieuws. About 15 min.

By bycicle: We do have bycicles available for guests for rent. About 10 min. driving along the Salzachpromenade

By Carriage: We can order a carriage for you at the reception. Aprox. 20 minutes via the Mirabellplatz.

Access to the hotel:
We suggest the exit „Salzburg-Mitte“. Leave the roundabout in the direction of “Zentrum”. Keep on the main road “Münchner Bundesstrasse”.
This road leads on to the “Ignaz-Harrer-Strasse”. Stay on this road till you come to the bridge „Lehener Brücke“, which takes you over the river Salzach. Take the left track on the bridge following the road markings.
Turn left into the “Haunspergstrasse „ then turn right into 4th street which is the “Stauffenstrasse”. The hotel is on the first small crossing on your left
